iDR SELECTED FOR MELBOURNE’S NEW NIGHT SPOT

Allen & Heath’s iDR DSP system has been installed in Melbourne’s latest night spot, Alumbra, in Australia. Situated in a heritage-listed cargo shed, the Alumbra is a 700-capacity premium cocktail bar and nightclub, surrounded on three sides by water, and offering 360 degree views of Melbourne docklands and city. The venue’s original features have been retained - including Central Pier’s weathered timber planks, which can be seen through the glass dance floor - and exotic Middle Eastern artefacts scattered throughout. iDR has been installed to manage audio distribution to the venue’s numerous areas. The main dance floor and bar includes specially-commissioned glass chandeliers, candy-striped carpets, and an illuminated bar, whilst on the upstairs mezzanine level is the Privé Lounge and an exclusive VIP lounge for 15 people or less, complete with separate entry and buzzer waiter service. Martin Audio speakers, with QSC amplifiers complete the system.

Design and technical installation was handled by the experienced One Productions: “In all our systems we’re looking to deliver superb audio solutions,” commented MD, Nathan Pugh. “Alumbra is a great case study, it was a very difficult space and required comprehensive simulation but the result really works and management, staff and patrons couldn’t be happier. Building with the best components always gives us a big head start.” Alumbra promises to deliver Melbourne’s best line-up of deep house DJ’s on Fridays and Saturdays, with Soul Sessions on Sundays and Cuban Dance Academy classes on Wednesdays.
