Soft Keys and Soft LEDs
Why use the term Soft?
Almost all controls and LEDs within the iDR and PL system are SOFT Keys or LEDs. We have used the term/phrase SOFT as the soft keys and soft LEDs are defined in SOFTWARE and control/transmit a function in the software.
For example: A soft LED on a PL can be setup in the System Manager Software to act as an Input Level Meter.
Why is this good?
There are many advantages of having definable Keys and LEDs
The installer/user can determine how the system will be setup (custom interface)
The settings are stored in the internal operating software (configuration) in the iDR unit(s) allowing system components to be connected/disconnected (hot plug n play) from the system Automatically mapping the predefined settings to that component.
Many settings (Presets) can be stored in the internal operating software (configuration) allowing for different Soft Key/LED settings to be recalled as needed therefore changing the LED/KEY definition.
Any number of devices can mirror the functions of another device e.g. An iDR front panel soft keys could be controlling input level of channel 1 as well as a PL-4 controlling Channel 1 simultaneously both control systems (front panel/PL-4) could have feedback of level information in the form of Soft LEDs, LED ladders/LCD window
